Musa Darboe
Musa Darboe is a 30-year-old public health student originally from Touba Demba Sam. The sole provider for his family of 15, Musa concentrates on his studies while school is in session, then works tirelessly as a tailor during breaks.
- This past break June-August worked for the Jammeh Foundation in Bundoung Hospital in Serre Kunda. Spent 1 month immunizing children
- Because of excellent grades this semester he was awarded gratis for his studies
- Subjects this semester include physiology, international health, parsitalogy, International Ports(border) Sanitation
- Has Practical next term
- Decided on public health over nursing because of its role in development. He is interested Preventative health care over responsive. Gambians need to take more responsibility over their day to day health. Feels that this contributes to National development.
Future
- Very keen on Public health microbiology
- NGO path- would like to work for a health nonprofit based in the Gambia
- Wants to get a Masters after a few years of field experience
